Nothing has been really frightening. We havent shut down our country.
Sweden is pretty isolated to begin with. We are the fifth biggest country in Europe (counting hectars), but counting our population we are at place 15. We have space, lots of space. Even the biggest cities are small. Tiny to be honest. So we have the land size of California but the population of Michigan. Or the city of New York. Just as a humble comparison.
The Swedish way is also a bit different. We like to eat smörgåsbord, drink beer and do shots of vodka (snaps) when we celebrate. And we try to celebrate at christmas. At easter. At Midsummer and not that much in the fall. We are trying to import Halloween and Valentines and Thanksgiving but it doesn´t really work in Sweden. There is no smörgåsbord associated with any of this and we cant sing out beloved snapsvisa when eating turkey.
We are also a bit different when it comes to guns. We don´t need the second amendment. We have lots of guns anyway, well we and up at the 22:nd place of gun countries in the world so maybe not lots… Anyway, we listen to our government.
When the government say ”we recommend” it kind of means ”do not”. Its like the Swedish population can think of it self. Most of the times.
Lets look at numbers
We had our first case of confirmed Covid19 the 31 of january. Oh, btw – she is healthy now, thanks for asking.
You guys ”over there” had your first death february 28th. My condoleances.
The New York Times has a good timeline on the corona pandemic. March 26 is interesting. The US takes the first place in the world. Again. But not in a good way.
The United States officially became the country hardest hit by the pandemic, with at least 81,321 confirmed infections and more than 1,000 deaths. This was more reported cases than in China, Italy or any other country.

This is not really a fair comparison (I like facts) Lets look at the numbers from Worldometers
This is sorted by number of deaths per 1 mil population. Sweden is ahead of the US. But unfortunatly for you guys – not for long. It takes about 5 days to get sick. It takes another 16 days before people start to die. So by March 26 + 21 days, you guys will probably be on the number one spot on this list as well.

”This is like the flu.” Well, this wasn´t really like the flu, was it? The death toll in other countries and the rate it spread wasn´t like the flu and medical experts around the world claimed that it wasn´t like the flu. But hey, Trumpster knew better – right?
The CDC says, avoid crowds, avoid shaking hands. I am sure that the security detail had some hi tec secret gizmo killing all virus particles. Or not – since such a device didn´t work for Prime minister Boris Jonson (who acted as you did Mr President)
”We will have vaccines relativly soon. Maybe a cure.” A year away at its best. For a vaccine
”It will dissapear one day, like a miracle” I dont know of any country in the world where covid19 has dissapeared like a miracle.

That sure is interesting, cause during that March 4 call with Hannity, you also compared coronavirus with the flu. You mentioned that the flu kills anywhere between 27,000 and 77,000 people every year, implying that coronavirus isn’t as serious of a threat to public health as Influenza.
The World Health Organization classified Corona/Covid19 as a pandemic as of March 11.
So March 4th you claimed it to be a flu. The flu is not a pandemic. March 11 WHO labeled covid19 a pandemic. March 17 you claimed that you felt it was a pandemic long before it was called a pandemic. It doesn´t add up…
The list of ”heroes” in this flu hoax (your own words Mr President) isn´t really complete but here are some of the proud contestants.
Hannity. Rush. Dobbs. Ingraham. Pirro. Nunes. Tammy. Geraldo. Doocy. Hegseth. Schlapp. Siegel. Watters. Dr. Drew. Henry. Ainsley. Gaetz. Inhofe. Pence. Kudlow. Conway. And of course the president of the United States.

Please Mr President. In my book, you should probably stay at home. You know the elderly and the weak tend to get sicker in the corona virus and for to many it has a terrible end. Prime minister Jonson kept shaking hands and kept beeing in crowds. That didn´t go to well.
But in the end – leave us Swedes alone.
Leave us Swedes out of your press conferences and please do not use Sweden as an example.
If you need to make political points ”since no one could se this coming” but you ”felt it was a pandemic long before it was called a pandemic” and has claimed this ” to not be worse than the flu” for so long, you need to get your facts together. Fast.
